Six Powerful Words I Learned In College
We had a very lively discussion during the start of our weekly ENCM morning staff meeting at U-Belt.

We talked about one chapter on the book Axiom by Bill Hybels, zeroing in on the topic Read All You Can.
As each staff shared what they learned from that chapter or what they are learning from the current book they are reading, I had flashback of my college years at University of Santo Tomas.
Towards the final year of my college life, I remembered my college mentor Ramon Francisco share to me six words, which as an aspiring journalist then, I should always remember: read, read, read, write, write, write.
Those six words stuck in my mind and heart as I started life as a journalist. And now, as a pastor, I still remember those words that’s why even in the midst of a tight schedule, I try my best to read books—be it novels, topics on leadership, parenting, marriage and what-have-you.
But our time of sharing during our meeting sparked something within me—a deep desire to take reading as a lifestyle, develop an insatiable appetite for learning in order to grow as a father, a husband and a spiritual leader.
In a people ministry like ours, reading books should certainly be part of our life—whether you’re a student, a working professional or married person.
Here’s an interesting quote from Bill Hybels’ chapter on Read All You Can:
Leaders have a responsibility before God to constantly get better, and one of the most reliable ways to do is to read. Great leaders read frequently. They read voraciously.
What book are you reading lately?

What We Learned From the Money Seminar
Saturday night’s (Aug.
finance seminar on How to Make Your First Million was really amazing to me in many ways!
Pastor Chinkee, one of the pastors I really admire because of his faith and his integrity, really left some thought-provoking principles as my wife and I listened to him speak during the two-hour seminar.
Though I admit that I already heard some of the things he shared, yet, I’m really glad to be able to hear them again from Chinkee.
Here are some of the things I listed down for me and my wife to talk about and come up with plan of action:
- never allow your past circumstances to steal your dreams.
- Invest on the inside and it will manifest on the outside later on
- Always put premium on education and learning.
- If you pay now (meaning, work hard and smart now), you’ll play (enjoy) later.
- Don’t let your past define you
- Make it your goal to move from survival stage to financial freedom.
Hope these points refreshed your mind.
If you’ve were there in the finance seminar Saturday night, what did you learn from it? Maybe we could from you as well.
Bea Sings Song From The Sound Of Music
Bea seems to have a love for old but certainly legendary music.
Just like one of the songs sang by Julie Andrews in the classic movie Sound of Music.
Watch and listen as Bea tries to imitate the incomparable Julie Andrews…

Bea Memorizes A Line From A Commercial
In between her study time, Bea memorizes lines whether from a song or from the commercial.
Here, I captured a commercial line Bea has memorized just before she turned age three. Here it is…

Start Of Something New For FEU Taekwondo Teams
Since we started our small group with two athletes from Far Eastern University’s men’s taekwondo team on mid-2008, one of my prayers was for God to open a door for us to disciple both the men’s and women’s team.
This morning, that prayer had been answered.
Through the help of Jaz Distrito, wife of former Philippine Christian University assistant coach Nixon, we got connected to FEU’s taekwondo head coach Veronica Domingo, and the result was an initial small group among 32 varsity athletes from the men’s, women and juniors teams.
God has his unique way of getting us connected to people.
Coach Veronica, a many-time national player and a Southeast Asian Games gold medalist during the 2003 edition, admitted that even with the talent her teams have this season, she could sense the lack of spiritual depth among her players.
“During training, nakikita ko yung galing ng mga players. Mas magaling pa nga sila kumpara sa time na nagsisimula pa lang ako. Pero I felt kulang sila sa spiritual feeding. That is what our team needs now,” said Coach Veronica.
We’re excited to meet the FEU taekwondo teams in small groups because we know once they get discipled, these players would make an even bigger impact not only in the UAAP scene, but even in the national team eventually.
FEU is one of the major contributors of players to the national team in recent years.
We pray that the FEU taekwondo jinns would not just be champions in the gym, but champions for life as well.
